Whew! That was quite the workout! Capturing all the video highlights, taking photos, conducting postgame interviews, editing everything, and then posting it all to Facebook and YouTube really took up our late evening and early morning hours. But you know what? Kay and I wouldn't have it any other way! It's incredibly rewarding to see this group of Stallions finally revel in complete success, accomplishment, and joy! It may be a cliché, but it truly felt as though a massive weight was lifted from everyone's shoulders. And to state the obvious: winning definitely beats losing!



The Stallions secured a resounding victory, overwhelmingly defeating S. Lenoir with a score of 67-8 during Homecoming at The Corral. The "running clock" mercy rule was implemented late in the second quarter, which expedited the game's second half considerably.



Homecoming at The Corral brought with it almost perfect football weather. While some might not share my sentiment (like my wife), I enjoyed the cooler temperatures—it just felt like... FOOTBALL!



What's there not to love about the splendor of Homecoming? Kudos to our newly crowned Homecoming Queen and King! My sole disappointment was the absence of my classmates from SWO Class of '82. That group of senior slackers (excluding myself, of course) was likely lounging at home, tuned into the Hallmark Channel. :) Just teasing! I love my fellow Stallions.



QUICK NOTE:  This might be the final game we have the opportunity to cover this season.  Next week is a bye and we will have to miss the final 2 regular season games due to family commitments.  And who knows where we might be sent for Round 1 of the playoffs.  If this is our final game for 2024, we sure have enjoyed it; even the heartbreak and struggles.  At least it ends on a FANSTASTIC note!




Game Summary



Playing without injured QB Jonathan Pittman, the Stallions stuck mostly to the ground (but a few very successful pass plays were mixed in).  On defense, it was no-contest as Stallions constantly swarmed and attacked.  I don't have the stats, but it seemed like our defense had almost as many negative yards as the Blue Devils did of positive yards. 



Q1




  • SWO takes the opening kickoff and quickly marches downfield.  Deo Roberts leads the way and scores on a 24 yard TD run.  SWO up 7-0 (10:47)

  • SWO D forces 3 and out.  Ethan Watson then scores on 37 yard TD run and the Stallions are up 14-0 (7:05)

  • SWO has a costly mistake as a bad snap results in turnover while punting.  SL gets the ball on SWO 4 and scores on next play.  SL adds 2-pt conversion and pulls to within 6.  SWO-14.  SL-8.  (2:43)

  • SWO quickly retaliates as Sr. KJ Blue takes it over from 9 yards out.  Tyler Randolph adds the 2 pt conversion.  SWO 22-8 as Q1 draws to a close.



Q2




  • SL turns the ball over on their own 14.  Randolph scores on next play and adds 2-pt conversion.  SWO-30-8 (11:44)

  • SWO intercepts (Josh Holder) on SL 20

  • Randolph hits Roo Chapman for 20 yard TD.  Amazing catch by Chapman!  SWO 37-8 (11:13)

  • Stallion D forces safety as SL punt team mishandles snap. 39-8 (9:09)

  • SWO gets ball at midfield and KJ takes it 50 yards to the house!  46-8 (8:58)

  • E. Watson with 30 yard TD!  53-8 (1:20)



Q3




  • Tate Whitehead reaches paydirt at the left pylon with 16 yard TD run!  60-8 (5:46)

  • Davion Hatchett completes SWO scoring barrage with 14 yard TD run.  SWO 67.  SL 8

  • Josiah Morris and Isaiah Greene secure interceptions for the Stallion Defense
